A cross-organizational communication system was established between the hospital and Yale with the common goal of safely treating patients in clinical trials and providing high-quality research care.
To accomplish this, a number of aspects were established, such as hand-off tools, clinical staff education, and documentation tools in the electronic medical records. Also, there is now better communication between the two institutions, ensuring that any information on new clinical trials is given to the treating nurses whose patients may be eligible.
