Molly Freeman, CNP, Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center, discusses the importance of providers being familiar with SBRT and what the effects look like.
If a provider is unaware of what the effects of stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) look like on a scan, it can cause alarm. This can sometimes lead to unnecessary biopsy or other treatment. To combat this, Freeman suggests more education for both patients and providers and sending copies of scans to the radiation oncologist for review.
