Inna Tsuker, PharmD, BCPS, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, discusses the Qutenza patch, a little-known treatment for neuropathic pain.

The Qutenza patch, which is applied by a healthcare provider, delivers a high dose of capsaicin that acts on the localized neuropathic pain. Tsuker says the patch, which desensitizes the area, has no side effects and lasts for at least 3 months. Qutenza has been used to treat other type of localized pain, though it has only recently moved into the realm of cancer-related neuropathy.
